Cost-effective motor production with automated coil manufacturing
Innovative wave winding technology ensures high power density
With an extensive product portfolio, the motion technology company Schaeffler is presenting itself at Agritechnica 2025 as a future-oriented systems supplier for agricultural machinery. Schaeffler’s heavy-duty electric motor platform was designed for a wide application spectrum of vehicles. Schaeffler’s electric motors can be used not only as fully electric traction drives, but also as generators in hybrid drives or even as a drive for an electric PTO. Schaeffler has end-to-end expertise in the production of technically demanding electric drives including controllers and power electronics.
Modular platform
The 800 V heavy-duty platform consists of three oil-cooled motors, each developing 112 kW, 207 kW, and 220 kW continuous output. The only difference is the length of the active parts while the A- and B-sides of the motors are each identical. Schaeffler adopts the innovative ‘wave winding technology’ for the winding of the stator. This flat-wire wave winding makes for a very high copper filling ratio in the motor and results in a high-power density. This particular characteristic gives rise to a very compact motor that is optimized for continuous output.
Through the integration of Vitesco Technologies as a provider of controllers and software, Schaeffler now has extensive, end-to-end expertise in the manufacture of technically complicated electric drives. All manufacturing technologies come from a single source.
Superlative efficiency in minimal space
Due to their design, the heavy-duty electric motors achieve maximum efficiency of over 97 percent in a speed range from 3,000 to 8,000 rpm. With an overall length of 151, 206, and 261 mm with a uniform outside diameter of around 239 mm (laminated core diameter) or 280 mm (including screw connection), the motors take up minimal space.
At Agritechnica in Hanover, Schaeffler will be demonstrating a complete electric axle with integrated heavy-duty electric motor.
